TREEBEADS

Terracotta, slip, glaze, wire, twine
40*40*160cm, outdoor installation
Certaldo, Italy  |  2010

For this installation in the Tuscan landscape I was thinking about trying to create something that would not impose too aggressively or imposingly, and maybe simply compliment the surrounding rich beautiful landscape of trees, olive groves, grass and biodiversity. I decided to create a totem pole type structure, considering tribal jewellery shapes, made in parts and using local terracotta from the ground. The beads simply hug and adorn a single tree in the landscape like jewellery or a costume.
